PHANTOM BLUE (Ghostzapper), a Resolute Racing purchase for $1.2-million during the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearling Sale, was sent to trainer Brendan Walsh. Out of the winning Seeking the Blue (Arch), the filly is a half-sister to MGSP Janis Joplin (California Chrome), MSP Vino Rouge (Vino Rosso) and as of Mar. 27 she has a new half-brother by Not This Time. Phantom Blue's third dam is MGSW Atlantic Ocean (Stormy Atlantic).

On the same Speightstown-Medaglia d'Oro cross that yielded current sires Olympiad and Prince of Monaco, Movie Night heads to the post for trainer Will Walden. The WinStar homebred is a half-sister to GSW Stellify (Justify), while dam Savvy Star is herself a half to GI Haskell Invitational Stakes hero Bluegrass Cat (by Storm Cat), MGSW Lord of the Game (Saint Ballado) and GSW Dramedy (by Distorted Humor). Movie Night's extended female family includes GI Man o' War Stakes victor Imagining (by Giant's Causeway), GI Kentucky Derby champ Super Saver (by Maria's Mon) and GSW Brethren (by Distorted Humor). On the subject of homebreds, Juddmonte has one of their own set for her initial start. Chad Brown trains Directive (Gun Runner) and cared for her mare, GI Just a Game Stakes heroine Antonoe (First Defence). The New York-based conditioner also had a hand in the success of the first-time starter's half-siblings, GISW Segesta (Ghostzapper) and GISW Salamis (Speightstown). Of note, under Directive's third dam we find French Group 1 winner Mutual Trust (GB) (Cacique (Ire). TJCIS PPS
